What to Remember on Waking (pt. 3)
What to remember on waking: The gift of your life must be given away. You are not the last stop on any train that runs through the world. To love the world is not to hoard its blessings, or to cling to that which evades capture by its very nature. To love the world is to transform it as it flows through you, increasing its fertility, refining its intensities, and sharpening its contrasts. There is no greater offering than to serve the world through the utterly unique gesture that is your life. Yet the world does not demand your martyrdom; it only asks you to slowly and humbly purify the longings that orient you to your deepest belonging in the world as the world.
